As the pile of jumbled jigsaw puzzle pieces evolves into a recognizable image, you begin building momentum. Suddenly there are only a few pieces remaining, and this is when it gets fun. You fit the last piece into place, and lean back to admire your accomplishment. It's a satisfying feeling to have found that solution. Karen Dwyer can relate. In fact, for more than 20 years, this is exactly how she viewed her career in engineering.
Karen grew up on Long Island, NY, before attending the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill to earn both her bachelor's degree in Sociology and master's degree in Computer Science. She began her career with a telecommunications firm in Washington, DC, but never quite "clicked" with the political culture that dominated the landscape. In the back of her mind were descriptions of Austin as "a whole different universe" that she heard from colleagues while in grad school. Trusting that advice, Karen applied for - and landed -a job with Lockheed and made her move to Austin in 1984.
When Karen arrived in Austin, it was love at first sight. She traded her stuffy business suits for more casual attire and thrived on the friendly atmosphere, amazed that people actually said "hi" to one another in the grocery store. Professionally, Karen continued to utilize her solutions-oriented mindset to excel in the engineering world for many years. But in 2001, she found herself at a crossroads when her engineering career threatened to relocate her out of Austin.
Leave Austin? Never!
True to her nature,Karen discovered a solution to her problem. Rather than follow her engineering career elsewhere, she decided to capitalize on her passion for Austin and turned her sights to real estate. Her detail-oriented approach and outgoing personality made her a perfect fit, and since 2001, Karen has excelled at helping people make the most of buying and selling Austin real estate.
When you work with Karen toward to the sale or purchase of a house or condo, she begins the process by listening carefully to your goals and dreams. Karen feels the better she knows you and your aspirations, the better she can serve your needs. With ingenuity and a down-to-earth, friendly approach, she makes the entire process fun and exciting for her clients.

“Karen handled the sale of my property in a most professional way. She kept me informed of any developments and issues that needed my attention, and helped to guide me in how I responded. Thanks to her hard work and her contacts, I received an offer above my asking price within one week of listing my property." D’Ette
"Karen exceeded all of my expectations as my Realtor! Not only did she get my home closed within two months of it being on the market, she also helped me fix it up to get it ready to sell (carpet, paint, deep clean and repairs) as I was not living locally at the time. Karen was extremely reliable, honest and easy to work with. I would recommend her to anyone trying to buy or sell a home. She is a true professional that knows her stuff. I could not have had a better experience." Kimber
"The reason I asked Karen to be my REALTOR® was because of her personality and knowledge of the Austin real estate market. She is not a pushy salesperson. She is always positive, trustworthy, and made so many extra efforts to make the entire sale process very easy. If I need a REALTOR® in the future, I won't consider anyone other than Karen." Kyle
"Simply put, Karen was a lifesaver. My place needed a lot of work. She recommended contractors and landscapers and helped coordinate the work. There were other parties involved in the sale who were difficult to work with. She was kind enough to work with them in my place. She went way above the call of duty and made what could have been a nightmare a smooth and painless sale. Thank you, Karen. I don't know what I would have done without you." Brett
